Chairman’s Newsletter – July 2017

Posted on September 10th, 2017

Hello everyone

We are right in the middle of our summer season now and in general – all is well! Lots of rides, lots of variety and lots of riders. Oh, and lots of sun! A few points to specifically bring to your attention:

POT-LUCK SUPPER – SATURDAY EVENING, 15th JULY
This is our primary summer social event and it is next Saturday. Steve and Lorna Swanton are very kindly throwing open their home and garden in Grove as our hosts. All club members, family and friends are very welcome to join us. Please each bring a bottle (alcoholic or non) and a dish – savoury, salad or sweet, enough for 4 people per person coming. Bread and potatoes provided. There will be a quiz and a raffle in aid of Whizz Kidz, the childrens’ mobility charity (we have had a number of generous donations of cycling-related prizes). Please let Lorna and Steve know by Thursday 13th July if you plan to come. Full details on the website. Contact details:

FRENCH TOURING HOLIDAY – WEEKEND OF 29th SEPTEMBER TO 1st OCTOBER
Following the great success of this long weekend touring holiday last year, Richard Pethybridge is planning another, with similar but improved routing. We have a good group already booked on, but please let Richard know as soon as possible if you would like to join in – his mobile is 07789 228361. Full details on the website.

RIDE THE NIGHT, WOMEN VS CANCER – MAY 2018
Oliva Pile has ridden this 100km all night event in London for the last two years and highly recommends it – she is looking to get a Cycling UK Wantage team together for next year’s event. A number of you have already expressed interest, but it would be good to see if anyone else is interested. Please contact Olivia about this (via me if you don’t have contact details).

Happy riding!
John
